#ABLEtoSave Public Awareness Campaign Toolkit

By promoting and participating in the #ABLEtoSave campaign, your organization will help more people with disabilities begin their journey to increased financial stability.

The ABLE National Resource Center (ABLE NRC) kicks off the 2022 #ABLEtoSave Month on Monday, August 1! This month-long campaign will provide people with disabilities and their families information about the significance of ABLE accounts and how these accounts can be used to address daily needs, help achieve long-term goals and dreams and increase their financial well-being.

With your help, we can increase public awareness of ABLE accounts across the nation and expand the number of people with disabilities who can improve their quality of their life by owning an ABLE account.

Throughout August, the ABLE National Resource Center will host events such as panels with ABLE account owners, family members and ABLE experts. We will share new and updated ABLE tools such as ABLE Decision Guides to assist ABLE-eligible people in decision-making, taking action to open and make the most of their new ABLE account! Additionally, this year our partnership with the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) will bring you more information and resources from the 46 states, plus the District of Columbia, that operate ABLE programs.

The events and resources shared during the campaign are designed to help those who have not yet opened an ABLE account to better understand this protected savings vehicle.

News Brief:

The ABLE National Resource Center (ABLE NRC) with the help of its sponsors, Prudential and Wells Fargo, launched its annual month-long #ABLEtoSave campaign on August 1. The goal of #ABLEtoSave is to increase public awareness on the benefits of tax-advantaged ABLE savings and investment accounts to increase the financial wellbeing of people with disabilities. ABLE accounts offer eligible individuals a path to “Achieve a Better Life Experience (ABLE)” through the ABLE Act legislation of 2014. This includes a focus on the ways ABLE accounts can help address the needs of all individuals with a disability, including Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) community members who are eligible for ABLE accounts. ABLE accounts have the potential to significantly increase the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities and their families without jeopardizing benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). #ABLEtoSave Month 2022 will feature panel discussions with ABLE account owners and their family members, new ABLE resources, videos, and more. We encourage you to distribute these materials through your networks, as well as any additional materials that you have to promote your own programs. Please keep in contact with us throughout the month. In particular, please do the following:
